Our fully licensed MOT test lane uses the latest equipment giving us the ability to test all types and classes of heavy goods vehicles, including:
• 3.5 tonne HGVs to 40 tonne HGVs
• Light commercial vehicles
This includes the equipment to comply with the latest diesel emissions regulations.
We send reminders to our customers when a six weekly inspection is due. We also send out quarterly service reminders.
 
 
 
 
 
Which laws apply?
Both HGV and MoT testing are covered by the Road Traffic Act 1988.
Goods vehicles that require an annual test include:
• vehicles over 3,500kg gross weight
• all motor vehicles which form part of an articulated vehicle
• semi-trailers
• converter dollies
• trailers with an unladen weight over 1,020kg
HGV annual tests
Heavy goods vehicle and public service vehicle (PSV) testing is changing.
HGV and PSV testing already takes place at non-VOSA sites called Designated Premises (DPs) which will remain in existence until further notice.
Introducing the Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) contract will change the way things are done with existing DPs and the way in which staffing arrangements are agreed. These are currently arranged locally which means working practices vary across the country. The new ATF contract will make arrangements more formal at non-VOSA sites.
